Well... that's an extremely rare one. I'm surprised that the seller didn't identify it as a Sport model.

Another interesting one from Facebook Marketplace.
1955 Patrician with factory air. Looks like the AC knob on the dash is missing, and the car has been reupholstered with inauthentic fabric.

Nice and tempting if were 1956! Anyway, I believe that the A/C shaft is available as reproduction or if not, used and even NOS ones turn up now and then but the knob itself is the same as the power antenna knob.

He'p me, please. I'm pretty sure that this is a Clipper block and not a '34 as advertised (monoblock casting, and so on). But, can you tell if it's a 282 or a 356?

eta: If that's a casting date, then it just had a birthday last weekend.

eta#2: I think that I count 9 mains, which would have to make it a 356. Right???

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

356 for sure. 9 mains, 4 bolt exhaust connection and location of distributor clinches it.

Awful crusty looking on the outside, but that bottom end looks pretty good! Wonder why they didn't provide pics of what is behind the lifter covers, and under the head?

Thank you very much!!! I was (fairly) convinced but needed a bit of corroboration.

Yes, I agree with you, it's a pig. On the other hand, it's a 356, so much can be forgiven.

I have a theory about all those mains and the rev potential of that engine, but that's a topic for another thread some day.

In that condition, you can probably expect thousand of dollars just on the crank and rods. I’ve never worked on a 356 but I understand that the crank is not straightforward to grind due to counterweights.
