Wire wheels

I have read that wire wheels were an option for the 1955-1956 Packard Caribbean. Is this true, and are they different than the wire hubcaps available for other models? I have a 1955 Packard 400 and I am wondering if it was possible to have the wire wheels, not the hubcaps for my car as an option? I think the car would even more beautiful with wire wheels. :)

Yes, chrome wire wheels were an option for the Caribbeans. They were also available as a dealer accessory. Go this way to expand on. Special thanks to Brian Harpst (BH) for all his research work for this content.
This source claims to know that wire wheels came $325.

Below attached is a pic of a so-called wire wheel trim ring. These kind of rings were nothing more than decorative screens and available as accessory.

Go this way to get an impression of the (already assumed) difference. Look and price will exemplify the disparity.

Thank you very much. From Guscha's link I see that the Chrome Wire Wheels were indeed an option for the Four Hundred aswell.

Are the repro wheels exact replicas of the original ones?

I have seen that picture when googling and it's the best picture of a Four Hundred with the wire wheels. I'm still wondering if those are the repro wheels or original?

Offtopic: May I ask what are the colors in that Patrician? Mine are Ultramarine Blue and Moonstone White. I'm wondering if that's Ultramarine Blue or some of the other blue tones.
