What tires to get??!!

I need a set of tires for the 52 200 I just purchased. The ones that are on it are 800-15s. I would like to get a set of radials for it. Would that be the equivalent of a 235/75r15? The ones that are on there are bias-plies and look ancient-can't believe they hold air!! Are these tube type tires-and if so, can I put tubeless radials on those rims? Thanks, Tracy.

I just put on a set of 235/75R15 tires, everything seems to fit OK.

oh, and the tires are tubeless, the new tires should work fine on your rims as long as any rust gets cleaned up.

You are going to get a lot of suggestions on your question. I recommend the radials that Diamondback sells. Go to their web site and all will be revealed. Tubeless radials should work just fine on you wheels. You may need to clean them so the new tires will seat properly. Others will be along shortly with their advice.

The original wheel size for the 200 was 5.5x15 and the original tire size was 7.60x15. The 300 and 400 used a rim 1/2 wider and 8.00x15 tires. The interchange from bias to radial for a 7.60x15 is 225x75R15 and the normally accepted interchange for 8.00x15 is 235x75R15. Assuming you still had the narrower "200" rims you'll probably get away with the wider 235 tire though a minimum 6" wide rim is recommended; also clearance within the fender wells might be an issue on full turns and steering will be harder at low or no speeds. Were it mine, if you want radials I'd go with 225/75R15.

Just be aware that for the rear tyres / wheels, it can be a tight squeeze getting the wheel on/off with a wider style of tyre, as the clearance between guard and hub is reasonably tight. You have to tilt the wheel a lot and jack the car high to get the wheels on.

You're right Larry. I wanted to put on 235/75r15s but they wouldn't fit. The 215's fit but I have to jack up the car even without the skirts!
