Hello

I need help getting started on the removal and rebuilding of the master cylinder on my son's 55 Packard 400. Where do I start? What's the best way to remove the unit and who should I send it to for a quality rebuild?
Any tips and help are greatly appreciated!

Assuming it has the stock power brakes usually equipped on 400s then removal is the same as this postpackardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... .php?post_id=156148#forumpost156148 except the brake light switch on a 55 is mounted on the frame rail below the battery and vent tube instead of on the end of master so no disconnecting of the wires are needed.

You can send it to Ed Strain in Florida. Perhaps someone can post his address shortly since I don't see it in the directory. You can also send to Kanter for a rebuild or get an already rebuilt exchange unit from Kanter or Max Merritt.

If it has standard brakes you will have to get under the car. The master is located under the floor near the transmission slightly behind the accelerator pedal.
