Things change so I can't speak for today, but in November of 2012 I was able to rent a U-Haul trailer to tow a 1940 110 Coupe, towed it from mid-Florida to Western North Carolina with a half ton truck. I think their computer had several Packard models listed.

Earlier, about 2003 I towed a 1948 Super from Western Kentucky to Western North Carolina on a U-Haul trailer, used a 1 ton GMC van that time as a towing vehicle. At that time I think they only asked about wheelbase and the distance side to side between the wheels.

I believe you can go to the U-Haul website and look through the list to see which models are on their computer list, been a couple of years, but I think I did this in 2012

My former 55 Clipper fit on a U-Haul trailer and they hauled it to its new home about 75 miles north of Austin on I-35. The tow vehicle was more than up to the chore. There were no problems.

No probably be a 2hr thing on the interstate to get it home.....

I take there isn't much sheet metal patch panels for these cars? Things such as rocker panels, or floor patch panels? I take it you fellows have to beat out your own panels?

Looking at their website (U-Haul), it looks like I could tow it. Trailer is a maximum 133" long wheelbase, 77" wide tread and 5200 give or take pounds.

www.c2cfabrication.com has sheet metal, floors, rockers etc, but yes, many time still have to pound out custom panels.

I regular use Uhaul to pick up packards, they fit perfect ad with the drop wheel wells makes loading a breeze.

Uhaul computers are a bit lagging and do not have every model. I generally put a standard vehicle in upon reservation. Trailers are beefy and have never had an issue with them.

U-Haul wouldn't rent me a trailer, my truck at the time (Dodge Dakota 4WD) didn't meet their specs. So I rented a car trailer from a different local place and brought the car home 360 miles. I did install a trailer brake controller, about $90. Just make sure to balance the car on the trailer fore and aft to get the weight on the hitch correct.

That is one thing I'm leery of, is I've never towed a trailer before.....So don't know much about them.

Rented a [long] trailer from an old-time rental place and hauled the 148" wheelbase '41 limo from Arizona to Kansas City. Used a Dodge 1500 pickup and also installed a trailer brake controller. Temperature in the desert was 110+. No problems. I used the same trailer/truck combo to move the '50 Custom from Moline Illinois. I found the '49 bargain Custom within 10 miles of home and it came on a tilt-back. No more room in the garage.

The trailers shown are much bigger than the ones at the local Uhaul place.

If you have not towed before, suggest you get help setting up the hitch, brake control, and balancing the load from someone with more experience.
