Congratulations, nice solid-looking car. It appears someone took some liberties with the location of the venti-ports or "scuppers".

no Dave, those are correct. same places as my car. I think you could put 4 on for a Senior model though.

Nice car! Looks like a '51 grill since the emblem is missing. It gives it a clean look in my opinion.

HA52, are you sure? Looking at factory photos I see none of the 3 scupper models that had the foremost one on the rear door. The 52 Patrician had 4. And dealers were probably happy to add as many as you wanted.

Ummmm.... Owen:

I just looked at the 1952 Owner's Registryhttp://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=16804&forum=2&post_id=167242#forumpost167242 and every car with scuppers has the first one mounted on the rear door - both 3 and 4 scupper model.

Must be the viewpoint of the photo as at first they looked a little "off" to me too.

Roger, you could well be correct but I'm inclined to value original factory photographs over current photos of survivor cars. I'm going to go back and look at some more factory images.

PS - I stand corrected! - looking again, there is a picture on page 67 of the Robert Neal book of a 1952 4-door/3 scupper model with the foremost scupper mounted to the rear door. No pictures of a 1951 model with that configuration.

Hello Owen:

I think I have an explanation. As I reviewed my library of photos and Packard ads I noticed that in 1951 that all 3 of the scuppers were placed aft of the rear door. However, by 1952 the first of 3 (or 4) scuppers was placed more forward on the rear door.

Please see the photos attached. P.S. I have an image in PDF of the 1951 cars at the PPG. You have to click onto the symbol to open it - it does not show automatically.

Thanks Roger, that confirms the conclusion I reached a few hours ago. It's a dull day you don't learn something new!
