Hi

Many fine tributes to the masterful artistry of Art Fitzpatrick for his seminal work with Van Kaufman on the series of 1959-71 Pontiac advertising art.

But, we should remember him for his early career work when at 19-20 year old creating the absolute design masterpieces of 1940 Packards:

RIP Art Fitzpatrick, as long as Packards are preserved and cherished, your best work will never be forgotten.

I met Art Fitzpatrick at Pebble Beach several years ago. In our conversation he related how he redesigned the center grille of the 21st series Clippers with wider bars to match the side grilles.

Hi JW

Did he mention if he was employed by Briggs Styling studio then or with Packard's styling department?

As I recall, he said he was working for Packard at the time. He said it was a brief employment period.
