Water Pump & Wiper Motors on a 1932 901

Two questions:

1) I have a coolant leak on one of the studs that are used on the water pump. The studs are 2" X 5/16" NF and want to know are these suppose to be studs or are they suppose to be bolts. The reason for asking is if they are bolts, the pump can be removed without removing the studs if I need to change the copper seal or replace the pump without removing the radiator.

2) I going to install the wiper motors on the car and want to know if there should be some sort of seal for the shaft that goes to the outside.

Thanks in advance for the guidance.

1. Studs. And you can remove the pump for service or to replace the copper ring without removing the studs. Threads on stud ends that go into the block should be shellac-coated or equivalent.

2. ?

Dave,

Thanks for the quick response. Nice to know about the copper seal.
