1953 limousine with glass top

There is a glass-top limousine in Costa Rica that has recently been built to a [reportedly] factory design. It was done for the usual suspect, but I would like to know if it was an original factory design, or something else. Anyone know?

It looks as though if you wear a size 8 shoe or larger, you will not be able to hold your feet straight in front of you.

Hi West

Mr. Neal detailed this customized Cavalier for the president of Costa Rica on page 212 of his 1951-1954 book.

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

I have two of Neal's big books, but I don't have that one. I would really like to see what it says.

Hi West:

Scanning and posting the page from Bob's book would be a copyright violation, but I can scan and email to you for your private personal use, and will do so today.

But I suggest you buy Bob's book on the 51-54 Packards - quite an excellent work and you'll find it a very worthwhile purchase.

Amongst other things. I don't see any kind of shade for the glass so a mobile tanning salon is not my cup of tea either.

Hi West: I am not certain, but I think this '53 Patrician custom was built for the president of Costa Rica in about 1953/54, or perhaps later. It was not built to a Packard design, but simply custom made there. The 127" wb was extended about 11", the plastic roof added, along with other features added or modified. There appears to very little rear leg room.

The 1953 Custom Packard Patrician in Costa Rica is a "Tribute to Otilio Ulate Blanco, President of Costa Rica 1949-1953."
