Craig's Panther Project - Paint

My Panther body/chassis with sheet metal and some interior parts went to the paint shop on February 7. Here's a picture of it being delivered to the paint shop by a good local hauling company with a flat tilt bed tow truck:

Here's a picture of the large paint color chip the painter mixed up to match my choice:

More details here:

The next step is for the body man to guide coat everything after they apply their own primer. Once any imperfections are resolved, they will proceed with painting.

Sure: $4,000. I'm more than happy to pay that. I've talked to the manager several times and one point I made was NO ORANGE PEEL! He said: "Don't worry, you'll love it. And we will guarantee it." I'm pretty sure that pictures will not do it justice.

Right now, I'm in the process of getting the chrome bumpers redone. Wow: $$$!

Update: today the Body Shop & Paint manager called me to say that the guide coating on the body and major pieces was almost done and I could come over to inspect. He also said that all the small pieces were painted and I could pick them up. Here's one picture of the asst manager holding the lower dash and steering column out in the sun (dash held upside down):

More pictures of the other small parts tomorrow.

The Panther body was painted today and the tow company delivered it to my shop! Here are the pictures I took of it at the paint shop earlier on May 5, 2017:

The trunk was painted later on that day and mounted on Panther for the ride home. More pics later!

The pictures do not do the color or the paint job justice. The hood, fenders and lower front bumper will be painted by next Wednesday I am told. Now a whole bunch of work begins.

As an addendum to the paint job delivery of the Panther: the tow truck driver (Two Star Towing in Pahrump, NV) did something that no other driver had been able to do. He backed his tilt/flat bed tow vehicle around my semi-circular driveway and deposited Panther right in my shop. That guy is good! He said, "How do you want to pay, X for cash and X+$5 for credit card?" I said, "That difference is nothing compared to the cost of everything else on this project...so credit card." He just laughed. LOL!
