Packard run here in Oz, this past weekend, to the Sirromet Winery at Mt Cotton in SE Queensland. Most attendees were from the more immediate vicinity but I travelled about 1,000 kms north in the '41 120 Coupe to attend. In convoy with a '52 200 Deluxe Sedan for about last 850 kms. Trip there took a leisurely 2 days while I came home in 2 stages. Stage one, about 3 hours and 240 kms on the afternoon after the event then 770 kms on Monday and home in time for Dinner! Coupe went well except for a 'CLUNK' from the front end from about Maclean for the last 210 kms of the trip north, then for about 400 kms on the way home. Now gone! Before heading to the Winery on Sunday morning climbed under the front end and tightened the lower sway bar link nuts, seemed to be loose, but to no effect. Will get under the front later today to see, shake and tap front end components to try and identify. In the meantime, some pic's.

"Did you win the trophy for the longest run to the event?"

Ernie,

It wasn't a trophy giving event, just our Aussie Packard Club getting together in a location that doesn't have many Packard specific meets. This was only the third Packard meet/run there in the last 10 years. One couple came further than I did, but they left their Packard at home.

Mal, I thank you for your photo coverage of the event. I am impressed by the interest and activity your Packard club has. Better be careful though, you're going to wear it out at the rate you are driving it. JWL

Under the front end today and everything is tight, couldn't find anything loose. However, after getting out from underneath, shook the front gravel shield and there's a rattle there! Stems from the indicator light housing touching against the number plate bracket. Have now increased the gap between the two and on the next run will see how it goes.
