As it says, I'd like to find the proper Detroit Lubricator carburetor for my 1932 902 --- Standard Eight.

Anybody have one out there?

Also looking for the air cleaner --- the curved pipe and head as shown in the photo.

Thanks -- Scott

Scott, didn't we just go over this very same subject matter over on the AACA forum? In any case the chances of finding a good, serviceable and used DL-51 for your 32 are not good. I believe Mr. Freer has extended his reproduction DLs to now include the 9th Series so you might start by getting in touch with him.

Thanks and Yes, we've discussed this on the AACA forum but I just wanted to toss out the thought that I'm looking. . . . see if anyone on this forum might have or know of anything.

I'll most likely call regarding the new one.

Thanks -- Scott

I'd still like to find the air cleaner, though. I doubt that anyone is making them. .... Are they?

I have seen photos of a modern cone shaped air filter element (like what K&N offers) fitted to these DL carburetors. I would guess they would be used for driving and then removed for showing. This may be a temporary answer for you. Hope it helps. JWL

That silencer is something I never see for sale anywhere. Even for the standard. I have seen duct work routed over the top of the motor to a forklift filter mounted the same way as the oil filter. Those filters are two stage and capture everything.

Jeff Dreibus might be a good contact to see if he knows anyone with what your looking for, as well as a rebuilder if you do find one. He rebuilt my DL51 and got my engine running real smooth. I looked extensively at Hershey a couple weeks ago for a DL spare and didn't see the first one. Good luck.

There's this whole thread about air cleaners, including K&N style, on prewar cars here:
