driving through germanys indian summer gold with my piece of golden anniversary I recognized the wings of my cormorant emblem wobbeling arround. At home I could easily pull them out of the body. Are they clued in? do I miss a clamp? some bolts?

thank you for anny advice.

The are secured via a wedge driven into opposing notches from the underside. The original wedge may have been made of lead but for replacement I've successfully used a golf tee.

Somewhere in a previous owner's care, the same thing must have happened to my 1950's Cormorant's wings. Instead of positioning them in the original upright manner, they were installed so that the tips are swept back. I have tried to get that wedge out but it appears to be hopelessly stuck where it is. So, as my wife consoles me, countless bicyclists and car covers are safer from getting impaled by my hood. She also thinks that the car looks a bit sleeker, instead of representing a bird trying to make a panic stop on the water. After more than 46 years of marriage, I know when to give up on a subject. She may be right, after all.

Mine are loose but a screw somehow keeps them in. So as I go down the road it looks as if the wings are flapping, my wife likes it.

Just give a check to the screw or whatever the screw is holding once in a while to make sure a groove isn't being worn that would eventually fail. I'm sure your wife would be less than pleased if a wing went flying for real and came thru the windshield expecting her to catch it..

The wings on my cormorant came loose on my Station Sedan. I reinstalled the wedge to firm them up and filled the cavity with JB weld. That wedge will NEVER back out again. Done.....'nuff said.
