Keith, It has a little over 63,000 miles. The undercoating put on up in Boston, where the car was originally sold, is still hanging on the chassis and is really tough to get off, but I'm working on it. I work on it from 08:30 till 5:30. It's a long day as I used to just lie around and eat bonbons.

PackardV8,

I did not find a replacement bushing for the lower control arms. After cleaning and close inspection determined that mine appear to be in reasoanably good condition with 56,000 miles on the clock.

Good friend Chris, who is a 56 Caribbean owner, has said he never saw bad bushings on the lower control arm. Although the external appearance may be a little ratty, the rubber inside was always in good shape.

Just confirming Randy's friend's observation about the inner control arm bushings; at about 90,000 miles on my 56 Caribbean, the upper inner bushings were badly in need of replacement, but the lowers which I believe to still be the originals did not require replacement.

Robert -

Glad to see you found our Packard Forum.

In addition to new of Randy's great find, I sure do look forward to hearing more on the progress with your Carib in the blog format that BigKev provided for in this Forum.

Meanwhile, feel free to add your car to the growing Owner Registry here!

Yup, that'd be me.

Them Caribbeans are so tiny, that I had to hunker down and to see the engine up close.

Thanks Brian.

I will start a blog to share my experiences. I took the fenders off a year and a half ago to deal with some significant rust and just kept going. Certainly now know my car better than ever but I sure miss driving it!

I have added my Caribbean convertible to the registry.

Regards,
Robert.
