The hooks on the 51 thru 54 are not detachable. Only the 55 and 56 were.
Also Packard used two different jacks in 51 thru 54. The one pictured in the comments above and a heavier one made by Walker for some of the senior cars.

Thank you and there was also a third as used on the Henney-Packards, which did not hook to the bumper at all. The coaches were so heavy (my 1952 was 6200 lbs) that the bumper would bend if one tried to lift it that way. Instead, they had a flat shelf with a large diameter conical pin that went into hole of the brackets sticking out from under the edge of the bumpers and attached to the bumper support bracket so that the weight was not on the bumper itself.

Ok..got the jack but need help with installing the springs in the head...anybody know how they go?or does anybody have a diagram?jack is useless without the springs
