Phoenix Packard dealership

I recently purchased a 1940 120 sedan. The plate fixed to the upper left firewall has "Arizona Motor Car Co." and 'Phoenix" stamped on it. I assume this is the selling dealership. All my online seaches (including this site) can find no record of this business. Not being close to Phoenix myself, has any found any records or reference to this dealership?

Thanks.

Not familiar with that name. My list (from about 1939?) shows

PACKARD PHOENIX MOTOR COMPANY
400 West Washington St
Phoenix, AZ
Tel 3-5179
S. Bowyer, President & General Manager
Wm Davey, General Sales Manager
A. S. Pederson, Service Manager.

Other AZ dealerships were Scotty's Garage in Gila Bend, Shaw Motor Co. in Globe, Duke's Auto Repair in Kingman, Prescott Motor Co. in Prescott, and Bowyer Motor Co. in Tuscon.

Cornerlot, you might want to add your car to the registry, before a certain "unscrupulous" individual comes in here "demanding" it.

Other than that, WELCOME! And sorry I can't answer your question.

G'day Cornerlot,
First, to Packardinfo

Second, Contrary to the aspersions Eric would cast upon my good name, I "invite" new Forum members to add their Packard to the Owner Registry together with a pic, any known history and how they acquired it. There is no follow-up except to acknowledge the entry in the Registry if and when I see it there.

Third, I too am sorry I cannot a help with your query.

Thanks all, I've added the car to the registry. Don't too get worked up about it, but it's not stock.

I'll contact Ken about the dealer registry. Looking around the net, I've found references to other former Phoenix dealerships having been on both West Adams and 6th Street. I wonder how many Packard dealers were in Phoenix during the same period?

Thanks.

Steve

Along this discussion..... if anyone has a list of, or knows any dealers not in the "Packard Dealers" list here on the website, then please add them to the list so we can continue to work towards building a Dealers list this that is as complete as possible. Currently the list here is pretty thin so perhaps we need someone to offer to be the "Dealer Ambassador" much as Mal is the Registry Ambassador and official welcomer.

Everthing we can add here helps to build a strong community and a more complete online historical Packard archive.

Thanks,

If I am not mistaken (and I certainly could be in this case) the present Phoenix Motor Car Co. The Mercedes Benz dealer here evolved from Packard past. I will ask around when I next see some of the long-term Phoenix PI chapter members next time.

I appreciate your help. It's not a big deal, but it makes the ownership experience more complete to fill in the history blanks, of which there are plenty.

Steve

PS.. I'm posting a VIN number question on the Prewar sections...

Cornerlot,

Was this car delivered to you by a guy with a ford diesel dully pickup pulling a 4 axle open car trailer about a month or so ago?
