Looks like "you guys" put on a show too!

They have the Concours on the main street in town, and the cars that are part of the actual Concours park there. But there is a county courthouse on that street with a large parking lot where they have "Car Club" areas where all the various clubs park their cars for display to the public.

I believe Desi took several more pics.

It was a 90/90 day (90f at 90% humidity), so I stay sequestered in the shade as much as possible.

On another note, I had several people ask me if I was having problems with the spring on my hood as I have the hood propped open.

My hood springs as fine, but I do this for a few reasons at car shows:

1) So people can see the engine, vs it being closed.
2) So people can see the hood ornament at a comfortable level. It is always a photographed element.
3) With the hood fully up, it's hard to see the ornament and also it destroys the lines of the car.
4) The most important reason... To keep people from injuring them by running into those sharp hood corners. Over the years, I've had a couple of people that have clocked/gouge themselves on those corners. Myself included.
5) Maybe an interesting exercise in human nature, but if the hood was wide open people look from a distance and move on. But with the only partially open, curiosity takes over and the come up to the car to peek and that tends to lead folks to ask about the car.

I found that the OEM tire iron, if inserted from the passenger of the hood latch and turned downward, will perfect sit in the latch slide notch and hold it securely without scratching any paint.

Glad to see you two got out with your cars even in this heatwave we are having at the moment.

My car is still hibernating thus far this year. Been busy attending to my 87 year old stepfather. He has been in and out of the hospital the last few months. And now back in today

Was hoping to get the Packard to a spring and alignment shop this year. Front tires a wearing out pretty quickly. If anyone knows of a good shop in Chicago area please let me know

It was great being with you yesterday. Thanks for letting us share your pop up tent so we wouldn't roast . I will post some additional photos after work today.

Good to hear from you Tom. I was hoping we might see you but certainly understand the circumstances. Family is the first priority. Wishing your stepfather a speedy recovery. I'll ask around about a good spring and alignment shop locally.
