Pictures of the engine. The engine shows that this is the first time being opened. Cylinders do not show any scoring but are "wellpolished".The cam has an interesting wear pattern, timing chain is being replaced.

Found tihs little jewel when pulling the engine, As I disconnected the clutch push arm it seperated from the fork just in front of the adjustment nuts.
After closer inspection it appears that the arm broke many years ago and formed its ball and socket joint.

Is the piston an autothermic strut controlled expansion type?
Is a maker's name or trade name cast on the underside of the head, for example "Bohnalite"? If it's a factory piston the "C" indicates a 0.001" oversize beyond the standard size or a marked oversize. If a nominal oversize is indicated like "0.010" or "0.020", then the "C" indicates a 0.001" oversize over that size. If none is marked, then it's 0.001" over the standard size. See the shop manual for more details.

Not sure what a automatic expansion expansion. My Pistions have a slot in the skirt up to the ring head area.

Here's one for discussion.
Looking at the service bullitins " Oil Filter Tubes- 1800-1803" I have identified several plugs in the 37 6cyl block oil passages. Has anyone added a oil filter assy to the 37 6 ? If so how did you do it.

That Service Letter is a pretty busy page, here's more concise information from the 1937 Packard 115C (Six) shop manual.
Since your piston has a letter code for fit, it is probably a factory autothermic strut type piston for controlled expansion. A photo of the internals would confirm.

If you want a hardcopy of it, it's available from The Packard Club.
