You might try Tucson Packards.https://www.tucsonpackard.com Their website has a Services section where they offer to repair parts. I believe that included antenna repairs at one time and maybe still does.

Good advice from HH56. You may also want to go to the Studebaker Drivers Club to ask for this service. The Studebaker section in the AACA website my also yield help.

I talked to Mike @ Tucson and he gave me a reasonable price to repair the two antennas.

Thanks Howard.

Pardon my interruption. but found this antenna with some of my Dads car parts. does it look like a front antenna for a packard?55-56? I cleaned it and a little and got it working, but cant find any numbers or identification on it. and is there supposed to be something to hold the plastic/Teflon tape? I saw some photos a while back that make it look like maybe yes. what would that be?

It does look to be the 55-6 version since it appears to have the short mast housing. There should be a coiled hollow tube that attaches to the housing next to the motor at the point the nylon exits which holds the excess length of nylon when the masts are down. On the earlier 6v version of that style antenna the mast section was longer and tube holding the nylon was formed into a large oval. On later units both mast and tube units became much more compact. Not exactly sure when the change to the more compact version was made available but could have been late 53 or maybe with the 54 intro.

Here are the two most common front electric versions. There was a third very compact style used for the 55-6 rear trunk mount antennas. Those coiled the excess nylon inside the drive housing. The third style was standard on Caribbeans and optionally available for most other 55-6 models.

I believe that the compact one must have began in 1955 as I've never seen a 1951-1954 with that style. Oddly, though, the Parts Book shows a different part number for 1954 but I am unaware of what the difference might be as they look the same as the earlier ones. I've noticed many different part numbers for 1954 including for the Henney-Packard when the part itself looks identical.
