Does anyone know the color of the Packard in the attached photo? I cannot match this color with any color on the official 1950 Packard color chart. The color code on the ID plate is worn away. I thought it was Arizona Beige, but it is not. The car is a 1950 Packard Eight Deluxe (2362-5).

Looking at the 48-49 22nd series chart on this site it might be Egyptian Sand.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/1948_Paint.pdf Color repros on computers may not be all that accurate and it could be the small strip on the 50 chart might be misleading and on a real chart or even the car, faded. Unless you know for sure the car was never repainted the car could have been done with another year or mfgs color too.

I believe it's Argentine Grey Metallic--- my friend has the same color--not seen too often, but a nice color

I've never seen that color on a 22nd or 23rd series Packard before. I'm going out on a limb and saying it's probably a re-paint in a non-factory color.

JD, It's a factory color. You'll see it if you look at a 1950 paint chart. My friend I spoke of has a 1950 Super Eight with that color. His car is a survivor and has not been touched. It's my favorite color of that year.

Here are recent photos of the 1950 Super to which George refers at our belated annual East Grand Packards Region potluck picnic. It tends to look silvery in some light conditions, more golden sand beige in others.

Thanks for posting. Does the owner have the actual paint code, maybe off of the build slip (if he was lucky enough to find one of them)?

For a 23rd Series car, the paint code would be on the patent (vehicle number) plate, hopefully still legible.

Since it's a "left over" '49 1950, aka 23 series (23xx-5) the '49 - '51 paint charts apply and are the same/correct.
The photos color match to the paint charts* isn't good, like most pictures of "chips". Light when taken, etc., condition of both paints comes into play.
The two candidates given, are both "poly" or metallic flake, offered in enamel and lacquer, so there's a fair amount of variation in application. Flake should be observable in the finish for either.

My eyes, closest match is the 30469 Egyptian sand poly(lighter hue than argentine). But we're talking 70 year old paint, if original, so I'd expect variation/fading.
Without the paint code off the trim tag/build sheet, can not be conclusive. Can not even assume original paint without documentation and paint forensics.
One could buy some, ~1/2 pt, paint a sample and compare.
Test car with hand held colorimeter connected to the paint database.
