Kevin,
1938 Six: Chandler Groves, Type AOC-2, codes 1-AD and 1-BA

1939 Six: Chandler Groves, Type AOC-25, codes 119-1, 119-3,119-4, 119-5

This taken from the factory 38-39 series shop manual.

I hope that all fits in the field oh, but if not totally understand how you may have to parse or truncate it.

Thanks so much for making all this possible. Pat

And I thought it couldn't get much better. Fantastic! In fact, it looks so good, how about a link to a plain-background version so that we can print it to our own parchment?

From one techie to another, are you using ImageMagick to create it?

Parchment is just an background image of a table that holds everything else. The picture is just a picture that I then use CSS to add the border and shadow. Also CSS to give it a 3 degree rotation. Then the staple is another image using a zstack placement and a bit of rotation with css. So really, the browser does all the work. You can look at the html page source to see the css tags. Only php code is just to inject the data and set the image src.

Tied the Engine Number Decoder into the Registry, so if the engine number being decoded is in the Registry, it will show the VN and Model Name that the engine is in.

Is there a picture of the 55 and or 56 Caribbean with 2x4 and air cleaner for the 5588 and 5699 engines?

I don't believe I could find a "stand-alone" picture of that engine config. If you have one, I'll update those models to display it.

Kev,
I will keep looking, but I was hoping you might have something.

The only 2x4 picture 1st off is in this SC.

https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/SC/SC-VOL29NO6.pdf

Not a good picture though.

When I enter 1601-2039 and press Go, I just get the description of what the number should look like and where to find it on the car. Is something broken or is this number somehow invalid? It is a 1938 120 with a Graber body.

Don, the decoder works for vehicle numbers of the "body type plus production number" type. The Graber has a "chassis type plus production number" type of VN as the sale by Packard was only a chassis, not a complete vehicle. Packard had no knowledge of what type of body would ultimately be mounted by the coachbuilder and in any case it would not be a factory body, hence the VN prefix is the chassis type, not the body type.
