Packard was definitely pricy. $5100 in 55 dollars works out to 50K today and even with the trade the car cost almost 26K. A lot of money then and today.

She kept the 51 for 4 years and I bet had very good luck with it. With all the problems in the early 55s I wonder if the proud new owner was as happy after the next 4 years.

Any idea what happened to that car? I don't show that particular VN in the registry. But not all the cars have their VN filled out.

My grandfather told me that if he had to do over again he would have kept the 51 300 as it was a more reliable car, he did drive the 55 until his death in 1977

Gotcha. Can I trouble you to add it to the Registry with as much information that you remember? I'd like to start having the history where we can.

Thanks!

I second the motion! The more, the better in the Packard Owner's Registry as far as I'm concerned.]

I third the motion. Register it. It may pop up. And $5100 was a lot of money in 1955. My parents bought their home in 1953 for $13,000 and it was a nice house.

My mother told me it took one of my dad's paycheck's to make the $62 house payment. She still lives there at 90 years of age. She's a tough old gal.

Site crashed?

If you go to that registry entry and view it, you can scroll all way to the bottom and there will be a Edit link.
