Pretty sure that's how the spark goes when you connect the (-) to current and ground the (+). That's what I did and what the article I read said to do.

I think this coil is 40K volts.

Hot day at the car show. Only Packard and one of two straight eights. More cars will roll in tomorrow and Saturday, so we have our shady place staked out. Close enough to the drag strip to smell burnt rubber.

Fred inspecting us before our departure early this morning:

It's not Old Car Ad Bingo, but it has some valid points. The terms "barn find" or "estate find" are conspicuous in their absence.

The prompt starting situation with the Deluxe is dwindling back to being more like it was, which is both a bit disconcerting and discouraging. I still have the points and condenser to install, and the back-ordered cap arrived before I got home. So it's not back to Square One, but it's not the win that it looked like last Monday.

Meh . . . .

It dawns on me, maybe the plug gap is a bit wide and that would help. Maybe. It's all about experimentation to see what works, right?

I found what I believe to be a 985 WCFB for sale online, cheap, so I bought it. With a bit of luck, it's rebuildable. Not sure what I'll do with it, but based on what they're getting for the damned things, it should be okay as long as it has all its little gizmos. Can't see it - it got shipped to Fred's house.

Speaking of, another adjacent landowner died last weekend. I wonder if the landlady is snuffing then so she can become some kind of land baron or something.

This page explains spark plugs and coil polarity far better than I could. There are many others here on this site and elsewhere that talk about spark plugs and the importance of setting them correctly with the proper gap.

I think that I saw that page while i was coil shopping. Pretty sure that the polarity is correct, but I was wondering why my results seemed to vary with it After it had been on the car a few days. Stuff to experiment with. Not likely that it'll get done before next week, and that's a Definite Maybe, even though I'm off. Too many house related projects.

Took Fred for a ride tonight.

Things Wat was supposed to do to help research and has failed to do: remove a 6/small 8 gas tank for measurement. Just didn't have time last trip what with all the other crap we did. Take out the small 8 transmission for Research and Development. Stinging bugs had infested that car, and they came to a cruel end, but nothing further happened.

We're going to the national show on Friday and coming home Saturday night. No sense in dragging it out. And Fred is staying home.

Went to the Nationals yesterday, just to see what was there. The weather was kinda crappy and I didn't feel like wrestling Fred. Good thing, too, unless there was one Hell of a lot that I didn't know about what was going on about storage and parking at the hotel.

Saw an acquaintance from TX, met some folks from MI and WI and VA. I counted 26 cars present.
