Is Tucson Packard struggling or having issues now? I ask because over the course of the spring and summer I purchased a set of rear fenders for my 51. Around mid-July Mike emailed and said they were ready to ship. I have heard nothing since. Emails and phone calls go unanswered.

They can be a little slow, but the items will arrive. I think they are dealing with reduced personnel, perhaps down to just the one guy now.

I buy from Tucson Packards and speak with Mike frequently via texting as he is not good with email. However, it is my understanding that, other than things jobbed out to local specialists, Mike alone runs the business and he is still catching up on his knowledge. I am not sure if his father, Sandy, whose business it actually is is still with us or not as he was recovering from cancer treatment when I was last there a couple years ago. Nicest guy you could hope t meet too!

I don’t know about sheet metal or other large parts, but smaller items are shipped through the nearby auto parts house and that is also the address they use.

Bottom line, they are a little slow and not the best at communication but they eventually come through!

When I was there back in February, the guy he had helping him had been in an accident and was in the hospital. It had already been a while that he had been in the hospital, and it seemed like it would be a long time. Mike's dad was still there but not really part of the business if I understood it correctly. On top of all that Mike was talking about moving the whole business and collection to a different location. That would be an absolutely massive undertaking. We're talking dozens of parts cars, and tens of thousands parts. Everything that went into a Packard car is there, and lots of it. I don't know if he started that or not.

Mike wasn't great at communication when I talked with him (he has lots of people contacting him), but he did get back with me and we got things done. He is a very nice guy and helpful. Don't expect things to be done fast though. I'm not sure if something has changed between now and February....I haven't been in touch since then.

It’s the number that Mike gave me to use which is a 336 number but I never compared it to their site as the site is far behind in the actual current offerings and rarely gets updated. Therefore I rarely, if ever, bother to look at it. That is true with all the other sites with online catalogues too.

Don,

Sandy was still with us back in June when I spoke to him. I called the 520 number and his wife (Rose?) picked up. Mike was not available so she put Sandy on the phone. I ordered a trunk hinge for my '37 120 and it arrived within a couple of weeks.

I have met both Sandy and Mike at swap meets. They are among the nicest people in the hobby.
