Wiring Question

Hello,
I am still on my Packard Eight Four doors Touring Sedan 1938 restoration project.
I am working now on the re-wiring of the car.
After disassembling the dashboard, I found that the lighting switch configuration does not correspond to the 1938 model wiring diagram, but rather to the 1939 model diagram.
In particular, I'm not sure which connectors I should attach the #21 wire to. On the 1938 model, the first section of wire attaches to the left side, then the second section attaches to the connector on top.
But on the 1939 model, the first section of wire attaches to the right side at the end, and nothing is listed for the second section of wire. Can anyone tell me about this?
Thanks in advance for your help and have a great weekend.
Eric

For some reason the even numbered pages of the 38-39 shop manual do not seem to be visible when viewing on my browser so maybe the copy on site is corrupted. If you have a printed copy, on page 22 there is an illustration showing the two switches and how the same wires connect to each version.

That wire from the starter switch looks to be a feed from the incoming power at the ign switch and via a tie point on the starter sw and then on to the light switch as a possible feed for the switch and aux fuses. I am wondering if the jumper is needed on the 39 switch. Looking at a 38 diagram it is clearly shown but on a 39 diagram it is not present.

Do you have both switches? If so, can you ohm out the switches to see if the wire to the terminal gets power independently on both and if not, can you verify on the switch you have if it needs the jumper.

Since I believe sealed beams were known to be coming along maybe there is a provision in the 39 switch to make an easy transition for operation with either style bulb.

Thanks Howard for your answer, I really appreciate your help.
As I do not have an original copy of the 38-39 shop manual, your copy of page 22 is very usefull!
Unfortunatelly, I do not have both switches. Looking at this page 22, I do not think the jumper is needed on 39 switch. Anyway, I will make an electrical check just to see if there is any difference with or without jumper in action.
Thanks again for your answer and best Regards
Eric
