Big trouble from Australia!

I had a fuel tank (1936, 120B) recently cleaned and the sender DISAPPEARED at the shop.

Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement or, failing that, get one made?

Thanks

Stephen

If Flackmaster or the usual vendors cannot help with used or NOS you might try KM Lifestylehttps://mykmlifestyle.com/KM_Lifestyle_Fuel_Senders.html and see if they can help. They carry some original senders and have made a repro for other years that seem to be satisfactory.

G'day Stephen,
to PackardInfo. Good to see another Aussie "on board".

Are you a member of the Packard Automobile Club in Australia? Should be at least one member of the club who may be able to help.

And I invite you to include your '36 120B in the Packard Vehicle Registry.

Thanks Mal.

Yes, I'm a Packard Australia member.

I spoke to the Canberra oracle and he suggested I post here.

I had the tank cleaned for the Bathurst rally in May so I got a few months to sort this problem out.

Ah Stephen,

Maybe a better contact in this instance, for the part you require, is Fred Dosser. Fred's contact details are in the PACA Member Registry. Don't want you missing out on attending the Bathurst Rally!

When I saw your Packard back in 2011 I took photos, a couple of which I've shown here for everyones enjoyment. As well, there's a photo you supplied at that time of what it looked like prior to restoration.

That picture on the mudflat gives me nightmares. What was my father thinking?

We've been doing a bit more work, it's starting to look good and drive well.

Now, if we can just get a fuel tank sender...

Stephen,

If Fred doesn't have the unit, you could try KM Lifestyle in the US.

The collector car hobby is surely alive and well "down under". The Caddie guys often post from there also.
One guy was looking for a part I had obtained from NZ (to US) and he couldn't believe would be one in Aussie land. So don't overlook the obvious.
Small world sometimes. I don't do pre-war, but would be having a curt conversation with whomever disappeared that part and making them cough one up. But I'm mean sometimes...and give bad advice?

The shop guy said he gave it too me and that was the end of the conversation. Anyway, all good, I'm talking to lifestyle and hopefully I'll be able to tell how much fuel I've got in the tank when it arrives!
