I have a 1941 120. I bought it with the wrong carburetor on it. My research shows it is supposed to have a Carter 478S but I can only find a Carter 479S. Does anybody know what the difference is?

478s is what you need.
479 is wrong, will not bolt up/the throttle section is totally different, for starters...
