What is the correct way to tell if a 1955 Caribbean has the original engine. Also did they all have summer winter seats or was that an option?

The engine numbers on all 1955 and 1956 Packards and Clippers matched the vehicle number. Thus, both numbers for the 1955 Caribbean would start with "5588-1___".

If by "summer winter seats" you are referring to the reversible cloth-on-one-side, leather-on-the-other seats, they were standard equipment only on the 1956 Caribbeans, both hardtop and convertible.
