51 300 Trunk latch assembly

Between my 400 and 300, I found a difference in the trunk latch. The 400 has a formed latch where, the trunk mechanism on the trunk lid locks on to whereas, the 300 has an iron loop bolted to the lower trunk body panel. Hence my confusion. The 300 didn't have a lid mechanism. I swapped the 400 to the 300 and, it doesn't latch, due to the difference in the two. Anyone happen to have a trunk lid lock/latch assembly that works with the bolted iron "loop" style ?

Regards,
Mark

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

The parts book does show two different latches and I likely have both somewhere. Whether I can locate them before leaving tomorrow is another story but when I go out today, I'll take a look.

I realize that this is showing the piece in the lid rather than that on the body but it simply references that there was a change. Odd, though, that part number 435646 that is referenced in the description does not appear to be in the parts book! I wonder if the latch for the 25th series has a typo?

I remember reading of an early change in the lock because of the trunk lid accidentally popping open if it had a sudden jolt. I looked for the documentation explaining the issue but haven't found it yet. As I recall the grasping mechanism between the two versions was totally redesigned and while entire assys were retrofittable, they did need to be changed as a complete latch and striker unit. I think the second version stayed in use.

Still in need of a trunk latch assembly. One that works with the iron loop. I attempted to use the one from my 51 Patrician but, instead of the iron loop, it has the stamped metal style catch. TIA

Group 31.167 in the parts book list a 3 and 4 screw 25th series lock assembly.
Which one are you looking for?
441650 fits 53, 54, and 55 cars it is the 3 screw one.

EDIT
Took one for the team, looked in a 55 parts car, I knew the lock was not installed, but opened the trunk anyway.
WOW, 3 wasp nests!!!
The 55 latch is not a loop like you have.

I did find this in the parts I have, but not the right one either. Anyone know what it fits?

ONE last EDIT
The 55 latch is bottom of page 20 and top of 21.

Thank you for taking one for the team with the wasp nests.... Don't wish that on anybody! Been there, done that...not fun....
Both trunk lids, 400 and 300, are 4 hole. That's not saying that the trunk lid had been replaced but, I highly doubt it. The inside of the trunk lid has the same color paint as the body. This leads me to believe that the change that was mentioned earlier in this thread, is an example of the change between the 2 models. I could see where the potential for popping open on the 400 is clearly evident due to the design.
I appreciate the inputs !

Pawed through the basement and found a hook like yours, but no latch. Could fix you up with a 51 set, or a 53-55 set. Can you give a shot of the inside of your trunklid?
