Terry,

No email address given, or on your profile. People can still contact you though, with a PM through PackardInfo or by posting here.

Terry, that gear box is probably going to be a tough item since I believe it was a one-year only set of internal gears; 1933 used the "angel wings" and 1935 was a different body with a different setup. You'll almost never find a parts car that hasn't had these already removed.

The typical failure mode is that the diecast gears just fatigue from old age and fail. The gearsets have been reproduced more than once for the 1935 and up, but for 1934, if your housing is OK, you're going to have to do as I did and find a gear-cutter who is willing to take on a very small job. Nearly all the cost will be setup of course. But if you do just need the gears and decide to have some made, I suggest you consider having some extra sets made and I believe there might be a market for them and you could recover your own cost. I had mine made many years ago in bronze.

Sorry Dave,
I did not make it clear the gearbox is fine it's only the crank handle I need as the .375" square locator to the gearbox has been damaged in the past where somebody has tried to remove the grubscrew.
Thanks for the reply
Terry
Ps. Should you come across one at the show would you be kind enough to obtain details of the vendor for me please so that I can make an offer for it.

Do you mean the actual interior crank handle? There was one on EBay yesterday that as I remember said it was for 1935-36, but I believe for closed cars they are the same. Packard was fairly frugal (or practical) with interior hardware and got many years from a single design.

Terry,

Had to do a number of searches on eBay before I found it, because I didn't know the terminology that might be used, but found it I did!
