Watch out for buying anything on Facebook. Scammers come out of thw woodwork there and just this morning I was reading of one who took the money and disappeared, deleting the account. As careful as I am about scammers, I bought something a few years ago on Facebook that I was fairly sure at the time was a scam and it was. Fortunately, due to my suspicions, I used American Express which reversed the charges.

I can confirm that at least two 1955 Clipper Custom sedans were built without the Torsion-Level suspension. The first is 5562-4145, which has since been scrapped (the owner provided me with the information). The second one is 5562-5692, which was a parts car in California in the 1990s. I obtained the information on this car myself when I inspected it (along with many other cars stored out in the Mojave Desert by DS McKnight).

There was a woman in the NorCal region of PAC many years ago who had a solid blue 1956 Clipper Deluxe without Torsion-Level which I understood was the standard configuration for that model. Her father bought it when new but maybe 1955 was different.

56 TL was optional on all Clippers, standard on all seniors

55 TL was standard on all seniors, de facto standard on Customs, not offered on Deluxe, and Supers are a mix... 55 supers it was only offered starting mid way thru the production run, but they are not uncommon

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

Compare the car you're looking at with a $7200 ask to this '55 Panama that sold late last year for $9000 on Bring-A-Trailer. The differences are quite obvious and the one sold on BAT had the added benefit of being well documented on this site.

Save your money, there's plenty out there better and cheaper.

Yeah I did see that listing. That's what I'm thinking now... I was a bit ambivalent on it, as you can see it looked pretty good in the Facebook post but now I think I'll pass.

I bought my '46 on Marketplace and the guy is a prince and the whole transaction was 100% open and above-board and better than satisfactory. Of course, I am just arrogant enough to think that I'm not a dumb@$$, so there's that. Also, that car proves that one can find a decent eastern car. It still has its trunk floor as well as all of its other Usual Suspects.

There's a decent looking '55 for about $13.5K, I think. Pink/coral and white.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.
