Yes, I have done the same with mine to great effect. The other thing that happened to mine was a sagging spine front to back. (Cowl to Rad Shell.) Gentle pushing from the inside of the two spines while separated and using an extruded aluminum 4 foot level as a guide brought them back to true and a smooth hinging action resulted. Not to mention a much better look.

I also have rework my hood in a similar fashion.I also have made some hooks to relieve the strain on the hinge by not allowing it to go all the way over. Thanks for the pictures, But with tongue in cheek to say your hood works great has to be an exaggeration of the truth.

Yes, I agree "Works Great" is really not very accurate!
But does work and must be very gentle, such a poor design
