Yeah, hopefully this week I will get the oil changed and the new tires on.

When you have the tires off, I would take the wheels and either get them powder coated or painted. That alone will make a huge difference. I wire wheeled mine....it was messy but cheap. Then epoxy primer and paint. But it would've been better to send them out for sandblasting.

I was thinking about that but the shops here are so busy that I don't really think it's feasible within a limited budget / time frame. Trying to get it parked for winter soon. Putting new tires on it because I'm driving it upstate to my uncle's garage.

On my 1956, the shop that installed the tires also does wheel powder coating so it killed two stones with one bird. Maybe there’s one like that near you!

I took apart and repaired my windshield wiper motor today. (Aftermarket electric one). I took it off because it was completely shorting out on me since before I bought the car. I opened it up and there were 20 gauge wires with the insulation literally burnt to a crisp, and the wire strands had actually fractured from the heat. What's strange is that I couldn't really tell what caused that problem, obviously it was shorting to ground, but it wasn't clear why. Additionally, I tested all the motor windings and they were good, if it was shorting through those then they would be destroyed too.

So I was able to get it going again, with the caveat that it only runs on the highest speed. I'll attach it to the car soon.

This is a good reminder to always fuse your accessories. Either use the manufacturer suggested size, or the smallest size that is 20% larger than the rated current (amperage). Remember, if you don't use a fuse, it's like using a 1000 amp fuse. A 10 pack of inline holders and 100 pack of fuses is like $20 combined, enough for any project. I will prefer a 3 amp fuse on the wipers from here on...

I picked up this clock the other day for $50 on Facebook Marketplace. "My ex-husband was a car guy but he didn't take this with him so I'm selling it." Can't see why as it seems to be in great shape. Maybe just not a Packard guy.

Should add an extra 5–10 HP easy.

Nice score! I'm always on the lookout for more neon signs. So far nothing good has come up locally.
