Jaguar specific plug wires and boots installed. Also the correct wire conduit and spacers. The remnants of the old conduit was still there put the main portion was missing. To install the conduit, you have to loosen two of the head (gasket) bolts. As the conduit installs under those two bolts.

Probably the most expensive plugs wire set I've ever bought. But they are correct.

Also cleaned up the other cam cover and replace its leaky gasket. I've used all new copper crush washers and replace a few of the really bad rusty acorn nuts.

The air cleaner got a cursory coat of paint. But needs to be media blasted and some dings removed at a later date. But I taped off the surviving original VOLKS sticker on the air cleaner.

Also gave the exhaust manifolds a coat of hi-temp paint. They where originally porcelain coated.

This afternoons adventure, creating a firewall pad. This started as a thick black cardboard (door) panel, to which I glued some leather like embossed heavy black cover stock. Then some carpet jute on the back.

I know the carpet is supposed to go over the pad, and it will, but still need to trim the bottom edge of pad a bit more.

No real car work today. It was Xmas tree tear down night.

But Dezi stopped by and was nice enough to bring me a 37 straight handle to replace my crusty passenger side one.

If you need me to photograph anything on my 115c sedan, let me know. She's lying in repose in the garage until probably late February. The P.O.'s did an "ok" job (lower case) at bringing the car back, but the past three years have been spent undoing the clearly wrong things they did over the years.

A mission of discovery....

Really enjoy your journey with your Jagpack.

Brake system rebuild started today. Car was put on jackstands and came of the wheel skates.

Front wheel came off and so did the dustcaps. That's when I noticed that there were no cotterpins on either side. There is a hole for what I'd imagine should be one. Is there supposed to be one?

So anyways, pull everything apart and gave a good coat brake cleaner to remove the muck. The paint on the backing plates just melted away revealing a light tan color underneath. The black that was sprayed for sure didn't bond to it.

So cleaned up everything and removed all the old grease from the bearings. Ready to be repacked. They were in good shape and the seals look good as well. So I will reuse.

The old wheel cylinders and lines are complete rust bound. I had to cut one rust hardline as it's fitting was rust welded into the hose connector.

So laid out all the parts that came with the complete Kanter rebuild kit. This include shoes, hold down hardware, adjusters, hoses, new wheel cylinders and new master cylinder.

That when I noticed that something appears to be missing from the rebuild kit. The little rods that go between the wheel cylinder and the shoes.

The old one are connected to the old shoes with peened over pins, and they are very corroded.

Should I have expected those to ha e been included in the Kanter kit? Everything else is.

I guess I'll have to call them. So yeah, currently blocked because of that.

Also, the front axle and rear axle shoes and hardware appear to be the same. Is this expected on a 115c?

Typically the old links are reused. If Kanter's 37 shoes are like those supplied for the 47, the support web on the new shoes will be too thick for the original cylinder links. If Kanter cannot supply the proper wider links quickly enough you may find it easier to go to Napa (take a shoe) and get some that fit.

Yes, the webbing is thicker, to that point after I received the kit, I was contacted by them to say they needed to ship me the proper adjusters as those were not shipped with my order. So I am surprised those pieces are missing, unless they forgot those as well.

I may see if Napa has them in stock otherwise that's going to spoil my timeline of getting the car back on its skates before the next trash day (Wednesday). Or the trashcans will be trapped in the garage. AKA unhappy wife.

The little rods are never included with the kits but the same design has been used almost forever so surely your Napa or other parts store can get new ones.
