Ok I think after a meeting of the minds, I have things figured out pretty well.

The two 1x2s that the cardboard panels attach to are actually each two pieces. There is a short piece in the rear, and then a long piece in the front. There is a gap to allow access to the body bolt. This also explains the "mouse hole" cut out in the cardboard as described by TxGoat.

Also, here are some other pics of the area under the rumble seat so you can see the front wood support with the metal seat clips and the wooden support blocks in the rear with the seat clips.

While the rumble seat was out, I scrubbed it and painted it to match the door panels.

How are you liking the upholstery paint? I've always been curious to see how it worked/looked. The pictures do make it look rather nice. At the very least it should do very well as a long term temporary fix. Hopefully it will allow you to put off redoing all the upholstery for a while.

It looks great. The SEM Soap and a scouring pad removed a ton of grime and all the stains. Then you lay down several very thin coats. It's not until about coat three that you see the changes. It's a flexible paint.

I actually need to order another can for the seat bolster pieces.

Andy is missing the wood and the metal clips that retain the front of the rumble seat cushion. So I made him a set based on my original clip.

20 min project, but I think they came out pretty good.

Pretty sure that doesn't look right....

Looks like I'm going to need another sheet of metal to make a new rumble seat drip pan.

I wondered why one drain pipe was missing. It must have rusted out and then fell through the floor.

Gave the rest of the area a quick hit with a wire wheel to remove all the surface rust and then the first coat of rust converter.

Trying to figure out what the purpose of these are. They don't appear to correlate to anything to do with the seat cushions.

47 has a similar loop only they are on the rear seat cushion side and tabs welded to the floor slide inside them. To release the seat you need to push back as you raise it so a hump on the tab can slide thru.

Without a frame to hold the cushion from sliding forward could your seat be similar except the tabs and loops are positioned differently. I could see a cushion with a short tab that enters the loop from the rear. You would need to push the cushion back slightly and lift so the tab could clear the loop to release the cushion. If there is nothing on your cushion to use it could it be a universal floor piece used in other models and the loop is just sitting there on yours.

Howard, I thought at first they were for the cushion at first. But the bottom cushion sits too far forward and low to reach those. The bottom seat cushion frame fits under these rear brackets and then pushes down over the front brackets to snap into place. The front ones are the brackets I made for Andy as they were missing.

The rear cushion hangs completely off the wooden frame attached to the rumble seat lid.

Repro trunk rack medallion and used knobs arrived.

The medallion is a solid casting and not hollow on the backside like the original. The backside of the casting was a bit convex, so I had to grind it down a bit to get it to lay flat.

The knobs will need to be rechromed or replaced at some point, but they are serviceable for now.
