Clock Delete Insert-37 120

I just wanted to share an issue those may find when they use the clock delete part. I installed mine with only getting the exterior surfaces clean and it looked great. A short time later I noticed yellow dust sticking to the inside of the domed glass. I carefully bent back the trim edges in the 4 quadrants around the base plate and opened it up. By the time I had it opened it looked like an hourglass had ruptured inside. It was the glue used back in original assembly, it had crystalized and started flaking off. Careful scrapping with a sharp chisel removed the remainder of the old adhesive. A good cleaning got it all ready for reassembly. I then cut a gasket ring out of 1/8th inch stock and put that in after setting the glass in first so it rests between the glass and backing plate where the old adhesive once was, carefully re-crimped the quadrant tangs and it is now clean and the previous rattle due to the adhesive failing is gone and it sits proudly in the glovebox hole.

I have never seen a clock delete. Can you please post a photo or two?

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

I think the picture above may be a 1938 clock delete. I believe the 1937 120 does not have the horizontal lines. Sorry for the low quality pic. I have them at my shop and not in front of me to take a better picture. although it does not show the lines.

1936 and 1937 120's Are what we like best. But we also like all other Packards too.

Yep, that's it. I got the car with just an empty hole and did not want the hassle of a clock so I got this instead. I really like the look, especially now that it is not full of dust!

Probably is but all my prewar Packards had clocks and so did all those in NorCal when I used to be active in it so never saw one before.
