Hello, I am happy to report I got my engine and crank back from the machinist and am beginning reassembly once again. My question is this; is there another way to install the rear main rope seals than using an arbor press and a ~3” inch piece of round wood, I have neither.

That's not necessary. Other folks can weigh in here better than me, but you definitely don't need an arbor press. Remember these seals were/are replaced in-the-car regularly, even (and especially) "back in the day". You basically just need to "roll it" with a socket or something before you install the crank.

Yes, I have rolled mine in to. Remember too assembling the rear main will cause some further seating so let it sit for a day afterward before you worry about spinning the crank, it will feel quite tight until it nests in.

Hello, I am currently trying to rebuild the oil pump now. Can’t figure out how to get the driven gear out. It seems you should be able to just hammer out a little pin (pictured) but I’ve been hammering on it with a center punch and it hasn’t budged from either side. Is there something else I am supposed to do or does anyone have any tips on getting this pin out?

I can't speak to that particular pump but often such pins are tapered so they only insert and remove from a specific direction. And possibly the ends have been peened?

Yes, it seems that one of the ends was peened so I was eventually able to push it out from the other side. Now the trouble is I am having trouble pulling the gear that the camshaft drives off. Is this press fit?
