I'd like to make a suggestion. I have a 1939 Rollson that had empty vanity cases. By searching the internet via ebay I was able to get everything needed and in sterling silver. The perfume case is in the shape of a Packard Radiator. One difference appears the my car has slotted holes and yours a has round to hold the items.

Thank you. You are correct, the perfume bottle is round, but there is also a rectangular slot in the vanity, do you know what went in this area?

Here are a couple of photos of 40 vanity cases. The illustration from the brochure looks like it might be a flat sided fancy bottle. The photo from a car in the Nethercutt collection looks to be some kind of leather pocket or sleeve which held something -- maybe like the compact George mentioned.

In addition to perfume or lipstick vanity cases probably also held some face powder in something like one of those fancy flat sided gold or silver cases or compacts you see in the 30s movies. In the movies the guy always seems to pull a flat cigarette case from his coat and the lady always has a compact in a somewhat similar shape to pull out of her handbag.
