I read that in some places (Montana, I believe), records were set down to -49 with a windchill of -72! I can’t imagine those temperatures in the continental US. -2 is fairly common in the High Dessert of Oregon where my shop is but -49 is unimaginable.

We were -4 this morning and now are up to 3.

It's not the cold, it's the wind. This is the reverse of "it's not the heat, it's the humidity."

North Florida will be extra cold, this night... Just in time, the furnace stopped working in the morning
~3 hours later, I was able to determine that the gas valve electric switch is faulty. Temporarily jumped the pins in the "on" position, until the replacement arrives.

We were something like minus 5 last night with minus 30 wind chills.

Not tearing into the '47 engine until things warm up a bit...or, a lot.

I do have a 110,000 BTU kerosene heater out there, but I'm not interested in heating it for hours at eight bucks a gallon. Heat up very cold stuff = condensation = corrosion.

I think I'll just have another Irish whisky, heavy on the Irish.

We're supposed to be in the 30's and low 40's by the middle of next week, and then it drops out again. So the 15" of snow will melt and re-freeze.

Swell.

-5°F in Pittsburgh currently with -26°F wind chill. Apparently some roads upstate were blocked off due to the conditions.

Recently there was a 50 car pile up in Ohio, and over 1 million are without power across the US.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

Sounds chilly in AB. Brian. We woke to -35 two mornings ago. Not sure what that is in degrees F but we all know they are equal at -40 so the comparison doesn't much matter! Hope you have a great Christmas out there! Chris.
