What are the differences between the '54 Patrician and '54 Cavalier. DO they both have the 359 or does the Cavalier have the smaller st 8? They look so similar in pictures.

Patrician has the 359, Cavalier has a 327. You can read the full mechanical specs on the various models here to see what other mechanical differences there are. While they both share the same body there are some styling differences in chrome placement and interior treatment. There is a 54 salesman's data or fact book which details the styling differences.

For 1953 they had the same engine, so the differences were all in exterior trim and interior materials and appointments.

In 1953, each had 327-cubic inches, however the Cavalier had 5-main bearings while the Patrician had 9-main bearings. In 1954, the Cavalier kept the 327-cid 5-main block, while the Patrician's block was enlarged to 359-cid, still with 9-mains.

Thanks for this! I have a 9 main 327 that codes to '53 that was transplanted into my '37 sometime in the 50's. Nice to know the model it came from.

Right. Thanks. Forgot about the 9 main bearing difference.
