This rarity seems to have slipped from notice, but its too rare for it to fall into unappreciative or greedy hands. Here is a link to a posting on the AACA Forum Packards For Sale section with photos.

https://forums.aaca.org/topic/391032-for-sale-1923-packard-single-six-126-sport-touring-non-restored-project-25000-wichita-ks-not-mine/#comment-2481416

And the Craigslist posting:
https://wichita.craigslist.org/cto/d/wichita-rare-find-1923-packard-sport/7577848626.html

If you've searched for a rare 1920's Packard project to take on, this would be hard to beat.

Steve

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

This "Sport" reminds me of another Packard. The one in this thread, although not a "Sport", is in similar condition.

Another matter, the second photo above gives new meaning to the phrase "Its only flat at the bottom".

That would be nice to get running, new tires and drive it like it is!

I hope that whoever restores it, paints it in the proper grey body, black fenders, crimson pin striping and wheels. Too many of these Sport models have been painted like clown cars.

I like the 'Turn of the century" hyperbole, are we still at the turn of the century in 2023?

West, that is the color for the 8 cylinder Sport. All 6 cylinder first series open Packards were painted Packard Town Blue medium striped with Gold, over black just like the above car. The Sport was not a different color from the other open models.

Refer to the "Facts" book for the first series six in the literature archive on this website.

West, it's my understanding that the pinstripe on the Single Eight Sport models was vermilion (cinnabar).

The eight-cylinder Sport (136) had vermillion striping and wheels.

Interestingly, the few 6-cylinder Sports that have survived here in Australia all have Rudge Whitworth splined hub wheels instead of the specified disc wheels and the 236 Sports all have the disc wheels, strange.
