Any idea where I can find a set of diagrams for the wooden framing for a 1928 533 and 526?

I have most of the puzzle pieces but there a few missing.

Thank you,
Gar

You are not the first to look for wood piece drawings. As far as I know they are just not available. I even went as far as asking the Packard museum for some. They have some drawings of parts but none for the wood structure.
I had to try to copy what I had. I even purchased a car from Australia that was supposed to have restored wood. I got some good from it but it was not correct and in poor condition.

You will have a lot of try and try again to get things to fit. Let me know what pieces you are having the most trouble with. I might be able to help.

Thanks for your input.

I am trying to help out another guy who is rebuilding the framing on his 28, and thought I might get lucky.

rrhorton,

Great pictures. Can you send me a close up of how you fabricated and assembled the upper windshield header on the "A" posts.

My car is still together but discovered dry rot in the upper corners while removing the old interior for a new interior. Nothing left of the corner wood to hold the roof down or cross member/header together - side to side. Now I have the windshield out, sun visor off and wondering how to possibly remove the front metal roof section to gain access to the header. And the soft top.

I was not expecting to get this deep into a New Interior!!!

Greg

That is some amazing wood work!! I've seen a lot of classics restored and wood is always the most feared part of the job, that is some outstanding work you're doing!

Hey RRHorton,

Can you tell me who bent your wood for the frame? I need to get a curved wooden windshield frame built for my 1941 convertible.

Thanks,
Gar

Are you sure it's bent, all of the curved woodwork in my 1920's Packards is cut to shape not bent, except for the top bows in the open cars?
