Battery Cables

Just a note for future reference, I ordered custom-made cables from:
batterycablesusa.com/battery-cables You can pick the gauge, color, length, and terminals needed on each end. For example, I ordered a black 14" 1/0-gauge cable between the battery and the cut-off switch with a battery terminal on one side and a 3/8" terminal on the other. For the run between the switch and the solenoid, I order a black 72" 1/0-gauge cable with a 5/16" terminal and a 3/8" terminal. The cost for these was far less than buying cables from the local parts store, and I could get them at the exact lengths I needed with the correct size terminals on each end. For my application as 12v, 1/0 gauge is plenty fine, and I went that size due to the length of the run. I used their "Extreme Battery Cable" type, which has thicker insulation and is more fuel/oil/temp resistant. They carry up to 4/0 gauge. Also, they may have other styles of battery terminals, but I just ordered their default "straight" battery terminal. I'll post some pics once they arrive in a day or so. Hopefully, this provides another resource for those looking for cables.

I needed a ground cable for my '46 when I bought it. The battery terminal had broken and was held on by a C-clamp. I robbed a parts engine which happened to come with one. The braided copper strap type.
But we'll need proper ones when we get to the 2125, you know.

Another source is Pacer group.
pacergroup.net I bought my 00 cables from them for the '49. Very reasonable back then, with today's prices, I can't say.

Very nice. I had some battery cables made up for me by an electrical service shop in Austin which specialized in heavy duty commercial vehicles. Interesting process to watch them being made.

I just picked up a 00 gauge negative cable and have a 2 gauge ground strap on order. $50 & $20 Cdn. These are from Gregg's, a Canadian supply company. Good to replace the skinny 4 gauge cables that are currently on the car, those are for a 12v system, not a 6v system.
