what year did Packard start using insert bearings and dropped the babbitt bearings for ever in the one ten six cylinder engines. Thank you from the Old guy email mrk_schuster@yahoo.com 4/28/23

The 237 and then later 245 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine introduced with the 115-C used insert bearings from the get-go in 1937. The 120 engine (257 and later 282 cubic inches) also had insert bearings from the start in 1935. Both mains and connecting rods in both cases.

The senior engines, the 320 and 384 cubic inch 8s and the Twelves went to inserts in 1935, though apparently a very few late 1934 examples had inserts as well.
