When Torque Recommendations are Not Available
Home away from home
Home away from home

There have been questions in the past about torque specifications and many cars before the war did not publish any, or few if they did. This chart from my brother's text "Stockel Auto Service and Repair" from his apprenticeship training days has this handy chart. I hope you find it helps answer some questions when assembling these old girls.
I found it best to print at 140% on letter size paper to better fill the page and ease readability.

Generally, if the depth is at least the diameter (for steel) or twice the diameter (for aluminum), the torque need not be reduced due to thin material. Of course, these thicknesses are increased some when using high strength bolts.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.
