No idea how thick the thread sealants might be but if thick enough to fill any gaps they may work. If they are thin though perhaps something like a thin layer of Permatex #2 around the bolt head and a few threads next to the head would work better. #2 is a fairly thick compound so fills gaps well but is non hardening so removable. It is safe around gasoline and primarily used to improve gasket sealing but can be used on threads.

The bolt or plug at the bottom of the bowl may need a lead or soft copper washer to seal.
