Can you supply a bit more information on where you found or read the switch description?

There are several switches in the new for 41 Electromatic clutch option and one is named an accelerator switch. There are also 3 solenoids that are part of the 1941 control valve which are operated by the different switches. The accelerator switch prevents one of the solenoids from working unless the accelerator is fully relaxed. Nothing in the Electromatic unit has the specific name of "switch accelerator solenoid" though and none of the solenoids are named an accelerator solenoid.

If not part of the Electromatic Clutch option, in 41 Clippers and most if not all 42 Packard models pushing on the accelerator pedal will activate a switch on the carburetor to bring in the starter solenoid and start the car.

Bonjour,
Merci pour votre réponse.
En fait il s'agit d'un switch positionné en butée de la tringlerie d'accélérateur coté démarreur. A priori 2 contacts secs 1 NO, 1 NC.
Je ne sais pas si ce n'est pas lié au système Overdrive ?

Merci

Thank you for your reply.
In fact it is a switch positioned at the stop of the accelerator linkage on the starter side. A priori 2 dry contacts 1 NO, 1 NC.
I don't know if it's not related to the Overdrive system?

THANKS"

Guscha, thanks for the translation.

Patrick, I think you are asking about this switch. If so it is part of the optional Electromatic Clutch mechanism introduced with 1941 models. That device engages and disengages the clutch automatically. The accelerator switch is used to prevent automatic clutch operation in some instances unless the accelerator pedal is fully at the released position.

There is a 1941 service letter Packard issued when the Electromatic Clutch option was first introduced. It has information on how the option works, describes the components, and has some information on how to make adjustments. More detailed repair information is available in a training manual.

The first prewar 41 version is more complex mechanically and electrically than a slightly improved 42 version and postwar units were greatly improved and considerably simplified.
