Clippers usually had 3.23:1 rear gears, Seniors usually had 3.54:1. Gear selection on 55s is limited because of lack of parts. 56s you can get nearly anything you want on a Clipper because it is a Dana 44/45.

51-54's with 3/over trannys used 3.9 gears. the centers seal differently, i.e. one is a gasket and one is a ring seal. if i remember correctly you can swap the earlier center in and not have a problem, but cant swap the other way or it will leak. but i could be remembering that wrong.
