Anyone know a close equivalent in spray can form that is rated for hi-temp?

Thanks in advance.

Max Merritt now handles the engine enamel Bill Hirsch used to. Spray or brush available

Yea, I see that - but it's $40 a can lol. I'm guessing it will take a little more than one can to paint the engine. That seems a little steep. Lots of different hi-temp greens on Amazon for much less. I wonder if any of them are pretty close.

Dupont 546A (Bell green). You can see if a local jobber can make you up a spray can.

I bought a quart at Hershey last year of the Hirsch stuff and used a cheap HF detail gun to spray it. Probably used less that a pint to spray the entrie engine.

I have a '37 (237) and a '40 (245), and two spare engines (both 245 from the 1947 production year, a few thousand units apart in production). Both of the engines that were in the cars when I got them were worked on at some point but none of the paint on **any** of the four engines matches any specific shade of "green", let alone the "Bell System" color, and at least three of the four were original factory paint. The '40 had seen some valve replacement but it was apparent that the engine had never been out of the frame. I special-ordered the "Bell System" green for the '47 engine now in the '40, and it looks great, but isn't that close to the original color nor the other colors of green on the other engines.

Pick something that's close enough and call it good. Obviously the factory had several shades over the run of at least the 237-245 engines; I would not drop a bunch of money on it again, if I had to do it over.

Even the Hirsch colors vary by the batch, which I noticed on some of the later grey engine paint. Most of it was relatively light but at least one can I bought was considerably darker.
