Well, we weren't supposed to have any rain or storms overnight.

We did.

Anyone have a hood and a replacement hood ornament?

Yikes! Sorry to see that.

Both could easily be had off a parts car but finishing them properly would be the difficulty.

That's my biggest concern. Not sure if a paint and body shop could match the original paint. It may mean that the whole car has to be repainted. This was a survivor with original paint. If I had known we were supposed to have storms, I would have taken it and put it in the storage garage that I rent for just such an emergency.

It’s black, no problem to match the color. You may want the paint adjusted for gloss to match the rest better. The good news is that you can remove the hood without tools!

Which hood ornament do you want to go with (Packard used 4 in this era)? I may have a used one

Oh no, that's too bad, especially because it's original paint!

It may not be easy to match the original paint, but I'm sure it can be done by someone that knows what the're doing.

Is there any chance a paintless dent repair shop could fix it so you can maintain all it's original paint? I've seem some pretty amazing work done by those guys.

Hope it goes well!

You need one of these!

Newer dent removal process not very effective on older cars do to thicker metal and its lack of memory like newer metal. My brother and I have had these guys try to remove dents on 1956 cars o luck guy said he would try as he was working on newer lincoln he had . Worth a try Sorry for damage but it could have been worse as roof windshield and door much harder to repair

My car is a 56 so I have no use for it. Not perfect, some pitting, needs a cleaning

Dads 56 ornament is a 1951 so, while the bird is the same, the base is different. I am actually looking for a lightly pitted one for my 1951 should this be available. I already have a NOS one that’s too good for the car and a very heavily pitted one with a bent base that is too poor for it due to the bent base.
